VaporTran® Transformers
Annual Service Contracts are available from Qualortran, Inc. Service Contracts include an initial evaluation and service as well as annual service and parts maintenance.

The VaporTran® transformer requires a one time upgrade and major maintenance service after ten years of operation to correct known seal problems and to remove non-condensable gases trapped in the unit's condenser. This helps restore full kVA capacity. A new design seal and condenser upgrade kit is installed as part of each service contract.

The service provides annual plant visits which include:

Initial Service - provides installing a new design seal and condenser upgrade kit on all units in service greater than 10 years. The components and sealant included in the kit address the leaks, which can occur over time and are considered preventive maintenance items. The upgrade process provides both the means to remove trapped air from the top of the condenser to restore cooling / load carrying capacity and a service port to add make-up dielectric coolant.

Preventive maintenance - after the initial service is completed it is recommended that units are evaluated in 12 months then on an annual basis. Make-up dielectric coolant is added and condensers purged of non-condensable gases using a closed-loop Purge System as required to maintain units to specification.

Record Keeping - detailed report of the activity is provided to satisfy EPA record keeping requirements. A prioritized listing of recommended corrective actions to resolve any new observed problems is also included in the report, i.e. - alarm problems, inoperative fans, etc.

In addition to the annual preventive maintenance service QualorTran can provide:

Original GE components - guarantee the availability of any component required to correct component seal leak for the length of the service contract. QualorTran has purchased the supply parts inventory of these unique components from GE Transformer to assure availability to customers in the annual preventive maintenance program.

Dielectric coolant - guarantee the availability of electrical grade dielectric coolant to restore transformers to original factory specification level for the length of the service contract.

Emergency seal repair - guarantee service rates for the length of the service contract.

Gas Sealed Transformers
The gas sealed transformer (GE, Westinghouse or ITE) requires an initial evaluation and leak test to assure proper gas seal for insulation protection and proper cooling.

Qualortran provides a replacement device for the hot spot indicating relay (HSIR) that has been out of GE production for 15 years.

QualorTran also has purchased the supply parts inventory for these freon filled transformers from GE to assure that these unique components are available to support customer service needs.

At your request, QualorTran can perform a detailed evaluation of your freon filled transformers. A detailed written report will be provided which identifies required corrective action in a prioritized format.
